Serfas Squall's adorned by the Hip Crowd

Eric Brewer was recently featured in Washinton Life Magazine. The 39-year-old Silver Spring native once worked as a government contractor, but he abandoned the land of cubicles a few years back to find his voice in the art community. Brewer inherited his sense of style from his mother. "She'd come driving through the neighborhood looking like a superstar," he says. "She wasn't afraid to stand out." Her fashion fearlessness taught him to create a look all his own by blending funky thrift-store finds (such as skinny leather ties) with clean-lined, modern pieces. His choice for eyewear: Serfas Mirador and Squall...

Wintery visit to Outdoor Retailer and our Utah office...

This is not only my first visit to Outdoor retailer but also our Utah office. I will try and get some pictures of the OR show, but for now our happy Utah sales staff getting their early morning started with a little coffee and conversation of carving up the local ski hill.

Ray and Riley talking about snowboarding and what not.

Hey Joe look at me! Surprise I am taking picture...

That's a big coffee cup Megan.

Something I was not expecting (coming in from Socal) is walking into the office and taking off my shoes for the rest of the day to keep from tracking snow and dirt in from the cold. Feels kind of funny walking aroud in my socks all day at the office.

Cheers,

Mark Mollenkopf (Product Manager)

President Obama makes his way to new office

Barack Hussein Obama, 47, made his first journey to the White House as the 44th president of the United States on Tuesday afternoon, leading the inaugural parade after promising a new era of “hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.”
The president thrilled the tens of thousands of spectators lining the parade route twice when he and his wife, Michelle, got out of their limousine, first in front of the U.S. Navy Memorial early along the route and again closer to the White House, where they were joined by Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill. Wearing broad smiles, they waved to the throng, which chanted “Obama! Obama!”

Snow in Orange County?

Believe it or not our local trails got about 6" of Snow last month. As close as 5 miles away we could haul out the studded tires and arm warmers for a snowy ride in 60 degree (day time) temps.
I don't think Serfas will be making studded tires any time soon though...

These photo's are from the roof of our global headquarters in beautiful Rancho Santa Margarita.

This is Saddleback mountain I think it's peak is around 5000 feet and the snow level came down to about 2000 feet.
Amazing if you think about it... I can ride my road/cross bike up to this snow level and then be at the beach with in 30 minutes of that.

The Serfas swap meet...Wow!

The 1st Serfas parking lot swap meet was a huge success! We weren't sure what to expect at the beginning of December but the turn out was way beyond our expectations. We had over 1500 people filter through our parking lot, which by the way was completely packed with vendors selling everything in the bicycling spectrum.
From new overstock products (from Serfas, Profile, Ladera cyclery, Helen's Cycles, Rocky mountain and THE/Vigor) to used single speed vintage conversions and even electric bikes. There were also vendors selling off demo bikes for amazing prices and many vendors selling what they had collected in their own stable of bikes.
All in all I think it was so successful we will do another in the spring but we may try to expand into a larger parking lot... one nice thing is street parking was plentiful and everything went off without hitch.

Ray and John looking over the very full parking lot.

The Serfas sales corner.

Jeff from Ladera Cyclery seemed very happy with the attention he was getting.

I didn't even notice Erik's crazy face until after I took the photo... of a happy eye wear customer (my daughter) wearing the force 4 glasses.

Domino finishing up with another happy customer.

The view from the street.

Late in the day there was still plenty for people to pick through.

Our happy Los Angeles rep braught plenty of good stuff to sell.

Plenty of factory direct gear from THE, Intense and Vigor.

Thankfully I didn't bring much cash with me because there was plenty of odds and ends to be had. I could have filled my car with all the great stuff I saw.

Brand new bikes from Rocky Mountain bikes ready for a new home.

Gary "GNU" from Profile/ Bellwether... I think they sold almost everything they came with from Tri-bike components to Bellwether clothing.

Plenty of bicycling gear to ogle (or buy)
We want to thank all of the participants for coming out and making it a fun Saturday at the office.
And check back often for an update on our next swap meet in the spring.
