The 19th annual Sea Otter Classic, the largest, most celebrated cycling festival in North America is known throughout the cycling world as the cycling racing season's kick-off event.
The Sea Otter Classic, a Celebration of Sport, will be held on April 16-19, 2009 at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area, Monterey, California, USA. There’s never been a better year to go to the Sea Otter Classic. This four-day, action-packed cycling and outdoor sports extravaganza features a full schedule of amateur and pro cycling events, as well as family activities for all ages. The Sea Otter Classic also plays host to one of the largest consumer bike expos in the world.

EVENTS AND ATTRACTIONS:Racers make the annual pilgrimage to Sea Otter to participate in cycling’s best competitive and non-competitive events. The Mountain Bike events include an epic Cross Country, Dual Slalom, Super D, Downhill, and more. Road cyclists enjoy Road Racing and Circuit Racing on the world famous Laguna Seca Raceway. For those who want to take a less competitive route, Sea Otter offers recreational Road Tours and Mountain Bike Tours.
The Sea Otter Village, hub of the event, pulses with the activity of free bike demos, stunt shows, kids’ playhouses, an international food court, beer and BBQ garden, and live entertainment. Free to kids 12 and under are Sea Otter Egg Hunts, Bike Rodeos, Kid’s Races, and much more. The Sea Otter Expo holds hundreds of vendors who display new products, give out free samples, and offer terrific bargains. Hundreds of professional road and mountain bike athletes come to Sea Otter to race, sign autographs, and share their racing techniques with the fans.

50 Mile Ride for Project Rwanda

Purpose:
To raise funds and build awareness for Project Rwanda.

50 mile ride - Route
Starting at Cook's Corner, this full route will climb into the back side of O'Neill, proceed through and out of the park near the RSM lake, and make its way to the Dove Canyon waterfall. Then we'll ride the ridge trails all the way to Caspers Wilderness Park, dropping down Star Rise and catching trails including Bell Canyon, Oso, Cougar, and back to Bell Canyon. At the end of Bell Canyon we arrive at a parking lot and rest rooms that will be our outermost checkpoint and refueling/aid station. From there we proceed up East Ridge all the way to Cougar/Oso, back on Bell Canyon and up Star Rise, tracing our route all the way back to the Dove Canyon waterfall (an aid station will be there as well). After refueling, we ride past the Coto main gate, climb and traverse Chiquita Ridge, head down Tijeras Creek trail to the Arroyo Trabuco Trail. 25 mile ride - Route
This ride shares the same beginning and ending route as the 50 miler - but it skips the entire middle Caspers section. It starts at Cook's, climbs through O'Neill and on to the Dove Canyon waterfall. However, instead of riding out to Caspers, this group will head directly over to the Chiquita Ridge trail, down Tijeras Creek to the Arroyo Trabuco Trail, back through O'Neill and finish up at Cook's for some post-ride fun.

5 mile fun ride
New this year! This fun ride is open to riders of all ages. It's an easy route, travelling along the paved Aliso Creek Bike Trail from Cooks Corner down to Saddleback Church and back. Enjoy fun games for riders along the way.
